There is a special law in Massachusetts that protects art that is being sold on consignment. It deals with issues such as transportation and makes the consignee (usually the gallery) a trustee of your work.
Trademarks don't expire if you use them.
As long as you keep using your trademark it will never expire. Coca Cola has had a registered trademark since 1893!
