Boston Food Swap, Inc.
After years of struggling to get through her farm shares (there's only so much you can do with 3 bushels of tomatoes, people!), Lyn Huckabee read a NY Times article about a food swap in Brooklyn... and the rest, as they say, is history. Lyn started Boston Food Swap with friends and follow co-founders Susan Johnston and Tara Bellucci with an aim to help local foodies share and trade surplus goods. By holding regular swaps where people can trade both basic foods and prepared items, Boston Food Swap offers an alternative to buying items in grocery stores, helping swappers to maintain their desired lifestyle of eating locally, sustainably and affordable.
A rapidly expanding organization and pending non profit, BFS also offers resources for finding additional swaps, home cooking tips and recipes, potluck dinners, and promotes organizations with similar socially-minded purposes through social media and other outlets where swappers can be found.
Testimonial
"We're so fortunate to have Shannon and the New Leaf Legal team help us navigate the paperwork to establish our nonprofit. On top of answering all our legal questions, they also referred us to other socially conscious professionals whose expertise we need to turn our vision into a reality." - Susan Johnston, Co-Founder, Boston Food Swap, Inc.
